Double Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures at Yanhee. The common indication is to minimize signs of aging. Another indication especially among Asians is the option to get a fold or crease in the upper eyelid, or a “double eyelid”.

Fat is removed from the upper and lower eyelids, as well as excess skin and muscles that makes one look older and tired and which may sometimes interfere with vision. This procedure, on the other hand, can correct drooping eyelids and puffy bags below the eyes, giving one a younger look.

The Surgical Procedure

The procedure is done under local anesthesia with sedation. Incisions are done both on the upper and lower eyelids where the unwanted excess fat, skin and muscles are present.
The new eye-fold is neatly sutured with fine stitches concealed at the new crease line.

Post-Operative Care
After the surgical procedure, the patient's head is kept elevated and cold compress is placed over it. The wound is dressed daily with sterile water and a topical antibiotic is applied.
Pain relievers and other medications should be taken as prescribed.
One week after the surgery check-up is done and the sutures are removed. Recuperation period is usually one or two weeks and 1 to 3 months to have the wound completely healed.
Initially patients could use cosmetics to hide any visible bruises brought about by surgery.

Eyelid Appearance after the surgery

Scars may remain slightly pink for 6 months. In time, however, they fade to a very thin, virtually invisible white line. The double eyelids give a radiant looking and rounded eyes that attract attention. The appearance achieved after the procedure lasts for years, if not for a lifetime.
