An impacted tooth is any tooth that is prevented from reaching normal position in mouth by tissue, bone, or another tooth. Almost impacted tooth will grow in properly interfering the third molars; wisdom teeth, or upper canine. Actually, wisdom teeth usually will grow in at around age 16-22 years. Therefore, if there is no these molars, it is potential to see dentist for diagnosis and treatment.



In case of there occurs the dental caries, impacted teeth may cause dental problems so dentist actually recommend the extraction adding with Orthodontic Treatment . Dentist will remove the dental caries with the forceps and local anesthetic. For extracting tooth, it requires cutting through gum tissue to expose the tooth, and may remove portions of bone to free the tooth. In this case, dentist will use the anesthetic on the specified position but not on the upper canine. Besides, for beauty, dentist may do the Orthodontic by pulling the canine up to be on correct position. After this treatment, patient can do their routine as usual.

If you found that you have the impacted teeth, it is necessary to remove because; if you let it be for long time, there will be pain and swelling. Then impacted teeth can result the infection. There are many effects as,
  • It may cause swelling or the infection from trapped food and plaque in surrounding gum tissue.
  • Periodontitis can cause the dental caries due to the food-trapped
  • Impacted tooth can effect the tooth beside; which can dissolve its root
  • Pain around jaw caused by inflection at the dental pulp
  • Impacted tooth effects the tooth beside being bending, anterior tooth, and next tooth from the impacted tooth
  • Impacted tooth can break the jaw in case of accident
  • Pulp can occur the cyst and inflect more; perhaps occur the Mandible cancer



  • Bite the gauze about 2 hours after the extraction or surgery. In case of continuous bleeding, use the gauze dipping with water to bite until stop bleeding
  • Use cold bag to compress around the extraction and not to keep ice in your mouth
  • You can brush your teeth as usual but avoid the violent crashing
  • Do not use the mouthwash without the prescription because normal mouthwash can cause the irritation and prolonged healing
  • In case of children who remove the anterior tooth, it may occur the effect from the anesthetic. Parents have to look after their children closely because children may bite their mouth which ca cause the sore
  • You can take the analgesic in case of the pain
  • Do not use toothpicks or fingers touching the tooth
  • Do not drink alcohol or spicy food
  • In case of swelling or tumor, you have to see dentist immediately
  • After the surgery within 7 days, you have to see dentist for cutting the needles
