Asthma is a kind of allergy or a disease that affects the lungs and the areas that deliver air to the lungs. An Asthma attack occurs when the areas become inflamed in response to a trigger, such as dust, smoke, fumes, mold, pets, exercises, or cold weather, etcetera. Triggers inflame the airways to the lungs and causes swelling in the lungs. In addition, the areas may become blocked or obstructed when the muscles surround the lungs tighten or go into spasm. Phlegm may clog and narrow the airways in the lungs, thus, making breathing even more difficult accompanied with a whistling and wheezing sound.
