Pulmonary is an infectious disease of the lungs that can spread to other parts of the body and may be fatal. It is caused by a micro-organism known as the tubercle bacillus or mycobacterium tuberculosis. The most common method by which tuberculosis is transmitted is through coughing or sneezing. Tuberculosis remains one of the most serious diseases worldwide. If this disease is left unattended, it will rapidly spread out because it can easily be contracted or transmitted through the respiratory system and may be life threatening at the end.
Chronic cough which may last for three weeks with phlegm and blood
Loss of food appetite, tired feelings and weight loss
Mild chest pain
Difficulty in breathing
A low grade fever
Night sweats
Skin infections may develop
The Diagnosis
The physician reviews the patient’s medical history and finds out the cause of the present infection.
The patient will be subjected for lung X-ray to find out the severity of the disease.
The sputum will be collected and cultured to be able to determine the widespread of the lung infection.
Pulmonary tuberculosis can now be treated, cured and prevented. A prescribed medicine by the physician should be taken in religiously for six months according to the physician’s instructions and a lung X-ray at an appointed schedule.
