

SLE or Systemic lupus erythematosus Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (also called Lupus or SLE) is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s immune system attacks the various cells of the body causing damage and dysfunction of the different organs and tissues which will eventually cause disability on the part of the patient or may lead to an inevitable death. If we are aware, this disease affects both children and the adults. Statistics reveal that more women are prone to this disease than men.

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus may develop imperceptibly over months or years, or may appear instantly. Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is a chronic disorder and occurs now and then. Some symptoms may be severe which may be detrimental to the nervous system and may include the following:
- Fatigue
- Loss of appetite, nausea, and weight loss.
- Chest pain
- Bruising
- Menstrual irregularities
- Disturbances of the mind and personality changes
- Hair loss
- Sleep disorder
- Dryness of the eyes and mouth
- Ache, pain and inflammation of the joints
- Skin rash
Since Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is a chronic disease, the patient should go through an intensive check up with the specialist in order to prevent further exacerbation of the disease. |
