What will be my condition after surgery?
Your doctor will give instructions for care, dietary restrictions as well as limitation in activities. There may be a temporary limitation in movement of the mouth and lips. How long do I have to be in the hospital?
You may go home on the same day once you are fully awake from the anesthesia. Your doctor will ask you to return for follow up check after about one week.
What could go wrong?
Some risks of surgery include bleeding, adverse response to anesthesia, infection, delayed healing, asymmetry, nerve injury, and need for revision surgery. Over time, skin thinning could develop over the implant, or trauma to the cheeks could lead to implant displacement . Without these complications, the silicone implant can stay in place for your lifetime.
How do I prepare for surgery?
To avoid complications and reduce risk factors, you need to stop smoking, drinking alcoholic beverages, taking hormonal pills, herbal supplements, and medicines other than those that your doctor allows you to continue at least two weeks before your schedule. People with diseases need surgical clearance from their medical specialist.
