Will I be conscious during the procedure?
You will be asleep under general anesthesia.
Will liposuction on my tummy make it perfectly flat?
Liposuction removes excess fat under the skin but it will not remove the fat inside the abdominal cavity. Thus, if you are overweight, you can expect to have a slimmer, but not completely flat, belly.
How long do I have to stay in Bangkok?
Your surgeon will ask you to stay near Bangkok for 7-10 days for post-surgical follow up.
Is the result permanent?
A good weight control diet and toning exercise regimen will help you keep your post-liposuction form. Pregnancy and significant fluctuations in weight will negate the results of surgery.
Tell me about the scars.
You will have a very small scar per area done where the liposuction tube is inserted.
Will liposuction remove cellulite?
Skin surface irregularities such as cellulite cannot be solved by having liposuction.
How long is the recovery period?
There will be swelling and bruising, most of which will resolve in about 2 weeks. The degree of post-surgical soreness will depend on the number of areas done. Limitation of physical activity must be observed for about 4. Full wound maturation will gradually occur over 6-12 months.
What could go wrong?
Some risks of surgery include bleeding, adverse response to anesthesia, infection, delayed healing, fat necrosis, nerve injury , skin contour irregularities, sagging of skin, keloid at sites where the liposuction tube is inserted, and need for revision surgery.
How do I prepare for surgery?
To avoid complications and reduce risk factors you need to stop smoking, drinking alcoholic beverages, taking hormonal pills, herbal supplements, and medicines (other than those that your doctor allows you continue), at least two weeks before your schedule. People with diseases need surgical clearance from their medical specialist. Muscle-toning exercises and a proper diet before liposuction will contribute to better results of the surgery.
