What nose reshaping is

The procedure

Nose reshaping is performed under general anaesthesia, so you are asleep throughout the 1 to 2 hour operation. Before surgery

Be in good health and free from upper respiratory problems before surgery. Recovery and aftercare

You are monitored in hospital for 1 to 2 days before discharge. Expect some discomfort, stuffiness and swelling around the nose, managed with prescribed pain medication; the soreness and swelling ease gradually so your face looks and feels almost normal by 2 to 3 weeks. Avoid touching or blowing your nose for several days, and keep the nasal splint in place for 4 to 7 days as instructed. Most people return to work within 1 to 2 weeks and wait about 1 to 2 months before lifting objects or strenuous exercise, though the timeline varies by person and job. A follow-up check is usually scheduled within 7 to 10 days.

Risks to understand

As with any surgery, the recognised risks include bleeding, an adverse reaction to anaesthesia, infection, delayed healing, asymmetry, nerve injury, tear-duct injury, and the possible need for revision surgery.
